  • The U.S. Department of State (DoS) has chosen a credentialing system for U.S. passports from Trans Digital Technologies, a subsidiary of Viisage Technology Inc., Billerica, Mass. The Department of State expects demand for U.S. passports to increase by approximately 20 percent per year and estimates that the United States will produce 17 million passports annually by 2009.

  • The Department of the Interior has chosen smart cards from Oberthur Card Systems, Paris, which will manufacture and issue all DOI identification cards as part of the Department's HSPD-12 mandate.

  • The Social Security Administration (SSA) has awarded a contract to Probaris Technologies Inc., Philadelphia, in support of the agency's HSPD-12 implementation Project. The SSA has licensed Probaris' SP/PIV Web platform, and it has engaged Probaris' professional services team to support the implementation effort.

  • The Federal Protective Service (FPS) and the Department of Homeland Security have selected Tri-S Security Corp., Atlanta, to provide security services for federal buildings in Southwestern Washington state, through Tri-S subsidiary Paragon Systems Inc.
