The state of New York has awarded a 10-year contract for Homeland security equipment, specifically, hazardous incident response equipment from Versar Inc., Springfield, Va. Geomet Technologies LLC, a Versar subsidiary, will supply the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certified Level II personal protective equipment systems under the contract.

Saflink Corp., Bellevue, Wash., has teamed with Datastrip Inc., Exton, Pa., to deploy a mobile biometric security system for Florida’s Seaport Gate Control Project. Under the project, dock-workers, longshoremen, truck drivers and others who require on-site visitation at Florida ports are issued biometrically protected contactless smart cards that are encoded with information including each cardholder’s name, digital photo, two fingerprint templates and card expiration date.
